Integrated policymaking needed to deliver climate and ecological benefits from solar farms
This report discusses the mechanisms by which solar farm development and operation may impact natural capital and ecosystem services, and provides recommendations for policymakers and the solar farm sector.
The CFA’s digital series Investing for Tomorrow’s Future highlights the urgent need to integrate climate change and natural capital considerations into investment decision-making. Three videos highlight how NextEnergy Group are pursuing a nature-positive future by promoting scalable solutions to halt and reverse nature loss, and to lead the solar and sustainable investment industries to do the same.
Towards a standardized protocol to assess natural capital and ecosystem services in solar parks
The rising global demand on land for food, energy, housing and industry to sustain increasing population growth is running parallel with an ever more urgent need to preserve the Earth’s ecosystems to mitigate climate change and deliver the goods and services needed for human well-being.
Organisational Resilience in Research and Strategy
This insight synthesizes interdisciplinary research on resilience and provides an overview of the state-of-the- art research and strategy on organizational resilience.
Although Brexit, COVID-19 and, most recently, the impacts of the conflict between Russia and Ukraine have brought the need for balance into much sharper focus, that does not have to mean choosing between food security and energy security. Effective policy can deliver both, as this article describes.

Nature Positive investment opportunities through solar parks: Workshop I
Nature Positive investment opportunities through solar parks: Workshop I
18th July 2023
Workshop I focused on building a new nature positive solar community between the project team and stakeholders from across the solar park value chain. Stakeholders were introduced to the concepts of biodiversity, ecosystem services and the nature-positive concept and how this applies to the solar park value chain. Through interactive breakout sessions, the team highlighted the benefits and opportunities associated with nature positive investments alongside current practices and discussed the importance of using indicators to measure nature positive outcomes. Stakeholders provided valuable contributions to the selection of a set of indicators recommended for use in the monitoring and reporting of nature positive investments at solar parks.

Nature Positive investment opportunities through solar parks: Workshop II
21st January 2024
Workshop II built on the feedback gathered in the first workshop to present a preliminary set of solar indicators and gain a deeper understanding of their suitability for use in monitoring and reporting on nature positive investments across the solar park value chain. Breakout discussions and questionnaires were used to assess how relevant and understandable the stakeholders considered the indicators to be, with round table discussions on potential barriers to adoption. These insights were essential in finalising a set of solar indicators for inclusion in our industry guidance note on nature positive solar indicators for nature-related disclosures and future markets.
